Giving

“For God So Loved the World He Gave His Only Begotten Son...”

The order of this statement is no accident.  Because God Loved;  He gave.  The attitude is more important than the amount.

Why Should We Give?

  • Giving Brings Us Closer to God -  ”For where your treasure is, there you heart will be also.” As an active act of worship giving demonstrates our love and gratitude toward Christ.

  • Giving Enhances Character - We are called to be like Christ.  Christ was an unselfish giver.  Regular giving moves us to be more like Him.

  • Giving Provides Us an Increase in Heaven - "Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal."  Scripture tells us that we can enjoy our heavenly accounts for eternity.

  • Giving Provides Us an Increase on Earth - ”There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.  The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.”  There are numerous biblical versus that portend material increase here on earth for those who give with a joyful heart.

What Does Giving Do?

  • The Lord tells us to - ”go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit...”  We are called to bring the lost to Christ.

  • Giving supports church ministries.

  • Church ministries help create the atmosphere to receive Christ.

  • Giving allows for supporting the communities that we serve.

  • Giving is the resource that maintains church function.

“Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of worldly wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you?”  True riches in life are a close relationship with the Lord.  Give, as He first gave to us.
